“Messed Up” is a hidden track that was included in the U.S version of Aaliyah’s self-titled third album, Aaliyah, released on July 17, 2001. The track was later included in posthumous compilation albums, Ultimate Aaliyah and Special Edition: Rare Tracks & Visuals.
What are hidden tracks? According to MusicianWave,
Hidden tracks often served as a fun ‘easter egg’ for a band’s most dedicated fans. Fans would often feel that they have exclusive access to songs that most casual listeners would not hear.”
