Billie_Eilish – My Future
American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish’s song “My Future” is the lead single from her second studio album, Happier Than Ever (2021). It came out precisely a year before the album, on July 30, 2020, her brother Finneas O’Connell’s birthday, via Darkroom and Interscope Records. The lyrics of this R&B and ambient ballad, which has jazz and soul influences, are an ode to personal strength and self-love. Together with Finneas O’Connell, the song’s producer, Eilish wrote it.
Music critics gave the song favorable reviews, praising its theme of empowerment through oneself. 2020 year-end lists from Billboard, USA Today, Slate, and other publications included “My Future.” Eilish achieved her third top-10 hit in the US with the song, which peaked at number six on the US Billboard Hot 100. In Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Singapore, it made it to the top five.
