Chris Brown – Proof
In the alternative R&B song “Proof,” Chris tries to mend a relationship that has fallen apart due to lies and deceit. The song is thought to be about Chris’ ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran, who publicly dumped him in March 2015 after it was discovered that he was the parent of Royalty, a 9-month-old baby, while in a relationship with Kae and model Nia Guzman. In the song, Chris makes references to his firstborn daughter and tries to show Kae that he still loves her despite his affairs.
Bryson Tiller originally recorded “Proof” for his October 2015 album T R A P S O U L, but it was eventually dropped because it was “too R&B” for him. The song’s instrumental uses a sample from Jodeci’s hit “My Heart Belongs to You” from December 1993 the single “My Heart Belongs to You.”
