Chris Brown – X
“X” appears to be a song about Chris putting an ex-girlfriend behind him and improving himself as a result. The song also discusses Chris’ ongoing conflict with the media and public opinion as well as his “moving on” from his mistakes.
When X was pre-ordered, “X” was made available on iTunes as an instant grat track. Chris first hinted about the song during a recording session in August 2014. Chris shared a 15-second Instagram video of himself dancing on his kitchen counter in honor of the album’s release.
“X” peaked at #98 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, despite only being released as a promotional single. The track also received overwhelmingly positive reviews for its stray from Chris’ typical sound and its lyrics.
Brown’s most sincere moment appears near the beginning of the record, according to Billboard’s Brad Wete, who appreciated the song. […] It is safe to assume that this is a man who is aware of the need to organize his life and make a good impression on both himself and other people.
