From his fifth studio album, Fortune (2012), American recording artist Chris Brown’s song “Don’t Wake Me Up” may be heard. Brown, Alain Whyte, Alessandro Benassi, Brian Kennedy, Jean-Baptiste, Marco Benassi, Michael McHenry, Nick Marsh, Ryan Buendia, and William Orbit all contributed to the writing.

The entire song was written in one night to an instrumental that producer Nick Marsh had made. From there, Marsh, Orbit, Whyte, and other Free School members continued to produce. Benny and Alle Benassi added to the song’s production in its final stages. Kennedy, Orbit, and Free School were the fourth singles from the album to be made available digitally on May 18, 2012. EDM song “Don’t Wake Me Up” has a repeated chorus and powerful bass. The song’s lyrics speak of a lost loved one who only exists in dreams.

The Billboard Hot 100 reached its high with “Don’t Wake Me Up” at position ten. “Don’t Wake Me Up” reached its peak outside of the United States in Australia, Austria, Hungary, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, the Republic of Ireland, and the United Kingdom, as well as in the top ten and top twenty of the charts in Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Sweden, and Switzerland. Araya Nicks, a model, portrays a mysterious woman in three distinct dreams that Brown has in the accompanying music video, which was created by Colin Tilley. Brown performed the song live on TV programs including Today and the 2012 BET Awards to promote it.
