Eminem – 97 Bonnie Clyde
The song “’97 Bonnie & Clyde” was written and performed by American rapper Eminem. The song may be found on both the Slim Shady EP and the Slim Shady LP as “Just the Two of Us.” A prequel called “Kim” by Eminem was recorded for The Marshall Mathers LP. On her 2001 album of gender-flipped songs, Strange Little Girls, Tori Amos covered the song. While driving his daughter to the pier to toss his wife, Kim, into the water, Eminem (or his alter ego Slim Shady) is singing the song. He uses baby-like language when talking to his daughter Hailie, such as “come on Hai-Hai, we’re going to the beach.” Grab a few toys and let Dada buckle you in your car seat.) yet has a menacing undertone.
