Eminem – Little Engine
Eminem’s song “Little Engine” is a bit frightening; Em raps on it about his aggressive tendencies and being mentally unstable. Em talks about his “evil intent” and drug use over an ominous beat.
One of three tracks on the album takes a sample from Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958 album of the same name, Music to Be Murdered By. The track’s introduction is taken from Hitchcock’s “I Don’t Stand a Ghost of a Chance With You.”
Em explained how the song’s title affected his adolescence in an interview with Rolling Stone from 2011:
I’ve just never been much of a reader. My great-aunt Edna would occasionally read aloud to me from The Little Engine That Could.
