Olivia Rodrigo is an American singer-songwriter. “Lacy” is a song from her second studio album, Guts (2023), and it is all lowercase. Together with Dan Nigro, the producer, Rodrigo wrote it. On September 8, 2023, Geffen Records released the song as the fourth track off the album. “Lacy,” a folk-pop song reminiscent of her debut studio album Sour (2021), tells the story of Rodrigo’s envy and self-loathing stemming from her obsession with the beauty of a woman she addresses by the same name.

The true identity of “Lacy” has been a topic of conjecture for both enthusiasts and detractors. The song’s lyrics have drawn criticism for their possible LGBT connotations. According to Rodrigo, the inspiration for it came from a poem she penned for a class assignment. “Lacy” entered the charts in a few other countries and peaked in the top 30 in the US, Australia, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand. Rodrigo played the song at the Bluebird Café and the Grammy Museum.
