Police arrest four suspected thieves in Jigawa, recover stolen metal beds and mattresses

The Jigawa State Police has arrested four suspected thieves and recovered stolen students metal beds, four mattresses and millet in Babura Local Government Area of the state. 

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, December 31, 2023. 

“On 26/12/2023 at about 1330hrs, one Zakiya Abdulhadi ‘F’ age 20yrs of Kofar Arewa Babura LGA, reported at Babura Police Station that on 24/12/2023 at about 0900hrs some unscrupulous elements trespassed into her house and stole millet valued at sixteen thousand five hundred naira(#16,500.00k), similarly, the same elements made away with the sum of forty-four thousand naira cash (#44,000.00k),” the statement read. 

“Upon receipt of the report, a team of Policemen on surveillance/ patrol were alerted. Later on, one Abubakar Habibu ‘m’ age 12yrs of Kofar Arewa quarters Babura LGA and one Abdullahi Mujitafa ‘m’ age 19yrs of Kofar Gabas Babura LGA were arrested with the remaining of some millet and the sum of five hundred naira only (#500).

“On interrogation, the suspects admitted to have conspired and trespassed into the complainant’s house and stole the aforementioned items.

“The suspects further mentioned one Habiba Haladu ‘F’ age 55yrs of Kofar Arewa Babura LGA as their regular receiver whom they had sold the stolen properties. Efforts are being intensified to arrest the receiver,”

In a similar development, on December 27, at about 1500hrs, information from Government Unity Senior Secondary School (GUSSS) Malam Madori revealed that, on the same date at about 1300hrs unknown thieves criminally connived and trespassed into the school premises and carted away with nineteen (19) students metal beds and four (4) mattresses. 

Upon receipt of the report, detectives attached to M/Madori Police Station swiftly swung into action.

“The gallant men successfully apprehended one Muhammad Nadabo ‘m’ age 40yrs and one Auwalu Muhammad ‘m’ age 34yrs all of M/Madori town and recovered the stolen properties in their possession,” the PPRO stated.

“The suspects were taken to the Divisional Crime Branch (DCB) for a discreet investigation.

“On investigation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the offence.

“All the suspects had since been arraigned before the court.”
