Two Shot And One Kidnapped In A Bank Robbery Operation In Delta State (Video)

Two shot and one kidnapped in a bank robbery operation in Delta

Two individuals have been reportedly shot, while one person was abducted by unidentified gunmen who attacked a commercial bank in the Ughelli area of the state.

The unidentified men allegedly trailed a bank customer who was about to make a deposit and blocked him outside the bank but met with resistance from operatives of the Delta State Police Command.

Sharing videos from the attack, social media user #eonsintelligenc wrote:

“A branch of the United Bank for Africa in Ughelli, Delta State, was attacked by unidentified gunmen in a brazen daylight robbery attempt this afternoon. Report indicates that the assailants trailed a bank customer who was about to make a deposit and blocked him outside the bank. Within three minutes of the customer entering the bank, the gunmen began their operation.

The robbers were met with resistance from police officers stationed at the bank, leading to a gunfight that prevented the assailants from entering the building. During the clash, two individuals were reportedly shot, and one person was abducted. The robbers escaped in a gold-coloured Toyota Venza. The injured victims were swiftly transported to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment.”

Gunmen rob Delta bank customer, police begin probe

A customer of a new generation bank in Ughelli, Delta State, was on Friday mugged by gunmen suspected to be armed robbers while he was on its premises to deposit some money.

City Round gathered that the gunmen numbering about five in a Toyota Venza, had trailed the unidentified customer to the bank premises on Isoko Road before they shot sporadically which hit the bank’s security guard and two other individuals.

Witnesses said the customer had yet to enter the banking hall when the gunmen struck and eventually made away with three ‘Ghana Must Go’ bags containing money.

The security guard and two others were said to have sustained gunshot injuries from the hoodlums who were reportedly armed with sophisticated ammunition and operated unchallenged before they zoomed off the bank premises.

Confirming the incident to our correspondent, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright, said, “A customer who was going to the bank to deposit money was double-crossed before he could enter the bank and robbed. It’s not a bank robbery. Nigerians need to avoid sensation. Nobody died, but someone sustained an injury.

The gunmen invaded the bank in Delta and shot a security guard and others. An investigation has since commenced. Someone was injured and taken to the hospital, but it’s not certain if it was the customer.”
