Yesterday in Otukpo, Benue State, a shocking and brazen bank robbery unfolded. Zenith Bank, UBA, First Bank, and Stanbic Bank were all targeted simultaneously, and the audacious heist occurred in broad daylight. Tragically, this criminal operation resulted in several casualties, including the loss of lives among Nigeria Police officers who valiantly confronted the armed robbers.
According to an eyewitness named Sunny, who runs a Point On Sales business near one of the banks, the robbers initiated their assault by first targeting the local police station. Subsequently, they proceeded to carry out their meticulously coordinated attacks on the banks. This alarming incident underscores the urgency of addressing security concerns and ensuring the safety of citizens in this region.
“It was sporadic gunshots that alerted people and passers to the arrival of the suspected robbers.”
“Everyone scampered for safety. What they did was first attack the police station, which is near the three banks. “The banks affected include United Bank for Africa, UBA, Zenith Bank, and First Bank Plc”
“The robbers operated for more than an hour without resistance from security operatives, and they killed two people.
“The robbers were throwing naira notes as they left in two Hilux vehicles and one car,” the eyewitness said
